Mr. August is the tutor at Law. Advocate Social Media Editor Morgan Cappock interviewed August about his role helping students with their academic needs.

Morgan Cappock: What is your favorite part of being a tutor at Law?

Mr. August: My favorite part of being a tutor at Law is that I get to see students improve over the year in classes they’re struggling in. It’s also nice to see them improve their relationship and viewpoint of a class they didn’t understand at first. 

MC: What made you become a tutor at Law?

MA: I always enjoyed working with people and I knew it was going to be very fulfilling to work with the public in a school environment. I enjoy learning and love to share my knowledge with whoever can benefit from it. 

MC: How many years have you been working at law?

MA: I started here full-time in November 2024 so almost two years. 

MC: How has your perspective on students changed throughout those years?

MA: The most noticeable change in perspective I’ve had over the years is that students find it difficult to participate in classes that are outside of their interests. These tend to be the classes they struggle in the most and where they can use the most support. 

MC: Outside of tutoring, what is your favorite part of your day here at Law?

MA: My favorite part of my day is seeing all of my co-workers and the students here. We have an excellent staff and a great student community. Everyday when I’m walking into the building, I’m very happy to see everyone here.
