Jonathan Law Class of 2026 graduate Jordyn Torres has begun her first year of college at Southern Connecticut University, majoring in Psychology. 

Torres has enjoyed adapting to college life. She has had to make a couple minor adjustments but overall loves it there. 

“I am adjusting to college well,” Torres stated. “The first two weeks were difficult figuring out how to manage my time and also transitioning from Google to Microsoft was weird.”

Torres is loving the new freedom she gets at college. She has met many new friends and plans to keep meeting new people. 

“My favorite part of college is the freedom,” Torres said. “Constantly meeting new people keeps it exciting.” 

Torres has found college very different from high school.  

“A big difference from high school to college is having to speak up for yourself,” Torres said. “In high school a lot of teachers automatically help when they see you’re struggling. In college, you have to learn to either text a classmate, schedule a time where you and your professor can meet, or go to academic support groups to get help.”

Even though Torres is loving life at Southern, she still misses some of her favorite teachers at Jonathan Law. 

“I miss being able to go talk to my teachers during study hall,” Torres said. “I can’t just go see Ms. Russell, Rags, Sweeney, or Mr. Boynton any more.”
