Eli Fernandez, a senior who plays on the offensive line for the Jonathan Law football team, is making the most of his final year in the black and gold.

Fernandez is a three-year starter, having started since he was just a sophomore at left guard. His passion for football and love for the game has kept him going throughout his senior season.

“My senior year has been going well so far,” Fernandez said. “Ive been enjoying my last year of high school, making memories with my teammates, and trying to make the most of every moment.”

Football is a sport of highs and lows, and no different from any other high school football player, Fernandez also experiences some struggles.

“One challenge this season has been balancing football, school, and preparing for college,” Fernandez said. “It takes a lot of time and dedication, but it has taught me how to manage my time and stay focused on my goals.”

For Fernandez, Jonathan Law football has been an important portion of his life, and he will miss many things about it.

“I will miss being around my teammates every day, competing together, and the bonds we built throughout the years,” Fernandez said. “Football has given me a lot of memories, and I will miss being a part of a team that feels like family.”

Fernandez is the only senior on the Jonathan Law offensive line this year, and he brings great leadership to the offensive line.

“I feel that Eli being an experienced lineman contributes to the offensive line because he is the anchor and helps protect the QB,” junior Ryan Woods said.

Fernandez’s teammates appreciate and admire the experience and presence that he brings to the offensive line unit.

“Having Eli on the offensive line is huge for the whole team because he gets people better looks, and he lets people know what they are doing when they are lost or confused,” junior Connor Ryan said.

Younger players often look up to Fernandez’s game.

“I feel Eli’s experience helps the offensive line by bringing leadership, knowledge, and confidence,” Junior Zach Hyatt said. “He can help younger players improve and make sure everyone works together as a unit.”

Fernandez’s coaches appreciate the intensity and attitude that he brings to the field.

“I think Eli’s experience has contributed heavily to the offensive line as the only senior on the line, and he leads by example and brings intensity that others follow… he will be missed next year,” Offensive Line Coach Mr. Festa said.
