Key Club is one of the most largest clubs at Jonathan Law.

Key Club is a volunteer focused club where students are involved in many activities regarding Law and Milford as a whole. Members of key clubs earn volunteer hours every meeting, engage in important team-centered activities and better the school environment.

“Key Club is a great community and it’s not only in our school – it’s a global organization and connects you with people all over,” junior Key Club Secretary Anwita Puttam said. “While people do join because they need hours, getting involved is really the best part of Key Club.”

Key Club had been an extracurricular activity at Law since 1964. It has always given amazing opportunities for students to branch out socially and volunteer their time.

“Key Club is a great way to help out your school and community by volunteering, fundraising and service projects,” Key Club President Ava Grippo said. “It’s also a great way to build or volunteer hours to graduate with honors with distinction.”

Key Club meetings take place after school and students who are thinking about joining can simply attend the meetings to participate.

“My favorite thing about Key Club is the people in it,” Key Club Lieutenant Governor Isla McKeand said. “I was able to meet so many people with the same goal: to serve the community.”

Key Club Advisor Mr. Boynton said that all students are invited to Key Club meetings.

“We usually always have an agenda,” Boynton said. “Officers give an opening statement. We do our Key Club pledge, then we get into the weekly activities. Sometimes we do special activities.”

Another opportunity at Key Club is DECON, which stands for District Educational Conference. It is a weekend trip where all Key Club members attend meetings to discuss how to be a better leader in our community.

“My favorite thing about Key Club is definitely DECON,” Grippo said. “It’s an amazing experience to meet so many people. I also love helping out the community and being involved.”
