Mr. Batson is a history teacher at Jonathan Law where he teaches all grades, including a Criminology class. 

Batson has been teaching at Jonathan High School for 27 years. 

“My favorite part about teaching is seeing students make that connection when something finally clicks,” Batson said. “Watching them become more confident and interested in a subject is really rewarding, and the relationship we build.” 

Batson cares about all of his students deeply and has a passion for teaching. One thing that Batson is passionate about in regards to teaching is the Gilded Age. 

“I really like teaching because the drama is real, the money is absolutely obscene, insane corruption, it is basically the original reality TV,” Batson said. 

Many students appreciate the creativity and entertaining class Batson runs. 

“I like how he makes certain lessons like the Monopoly one, and he explains things well – we don’t take too many notes,” sophomore Grayson Frank said. “He has a good sense of humor, which makes his classes different from other ones, and he likes to make his classes fun and enjoyable.” 

Batson humor helps keep students engaged during lessons and motivates them to learn because they are having a fun time doing so. 

“I like how funny Mr. Batson is, and how he tries to engage with everyone in class,” sophomore Eason Dong said. 

Batson’s former students still appreciate him and his class. 

“Mr Batson’s class was always a class that I would look forward to because he always made the lessons interactive and fun,” junior Ryan Woods said. “My favorite part about that class was probably having a fun class with my friends.”

Batson runs a very upbeat, fun, and engaging class so students can participate in class, which can overall help students with their learning experience. 

“Mr. Batson made history class fun and interactive last year,” junior Connor Ryan said. “I really enjoyed his class because we did different activities and were always involved.”

The reason Batson keeps going in his teaching career is that he enjoys teaching history and loves what he does. 

“I keep teaching for several reasons, but in particular I truly enjoy the subjects I teach and seeing Mrs. Blude everyday,” Batson said.
