Some common struggles that high school students face are getting burnt out and feeling overwhelmed.

One way to relieve some of this stress is by talking about it with fellow peers and the support staff available at Law.

“There are a lot of supports that are put in place here at Law,” Dean of Students Mr. Ragaini said. “Students could always see their counselors and we have two social workers and school psychologists as well.”

Extra support and help with schoolwork is also provided. Sometimes, students are stressed with piled up school work and don’t know where to start. The TLC has tutors, an English Support Center, and a Math Support Center for students who need it

“I help students with organization and writing,” Academic Tutor Mr. August said. “There is a whole English Support Center with an English teacher and Math Support Center with tutors for Geometry, Algebra, Algebra 2, and more.”

Both support centers are accessible to everyone – freshman and sophomores with a pass and juniors and seniors who have their study there.

Every student also has a school counselor that they can utilize if they have having, social, emotional, or academic issues.

“(The support staff) helps me calm down and organize what I need to get done,” freshman Jackson Andrews said. “Counselors impacted me and helped a lot. Mr. Ragaini as well”

Many students said they have a “safe” teacher who they can go to with any problem and not feel judged. Some have gone to School Psychologist Ms. Spiewak with concerns as well.

“The best way to access me or any of our support staff would be to send me an email,” Spiewak said.

In total, Law has two social workers, a psychologist, four school counselors, two nurses, and many staff members for student to go to with any problems, questions, or concern.s

“I am comfortable going to my counselor with any problem,” sophomore Melvin Cabollera said. “I’ve always had access to a ton of support.”

Students who have used these resources said all of them are accessible and supportive to everyone. New and returning students said that Law is known to be understanding school and that the adults are very easy to talk to.

Reaching out, they said, is the best thing to do.
