Mr. Morazzini is the Advisor for the Fishing Club at Jonathan Law. Advocate Staff Reporter Cameron Medina interviewed Morazzini about the club, which has its first meeting of the year on Tuesday, September 29, from 2:00-2:30 p.m. in Room 59.

Cameron Medina: What type of fish do you catch in Fishing Club?

Mr. Morazzini: For the Fishing Club, we catch any fish that are present in Long Island Sound- for example- striped bass, bluefish, porgy, sea bass, fluke, etc.

CM: What is the best bait to catch those fish?

MM: Baits that work for these fish are species-dependent but generally live or chunked menhaden, squid, eels, sandworms, and different types of lures.

CM: Do you use a special rod and reel?

MM: Most rods and reels will work for at least one of these species. I would say if you’re a student planning on joining Fishing Club, speak to me about this at our first meeting.

CM: Where do you go to catch fish?

MM: It is best to prioritize casting distance since we are fishing mainly from the shore.

CM: Do you fish on land or a boat?

MM: For the club, although we have chartered boats in the past, we will be fishing mainly from shore.
