Jonathan Law Class of 2026 graduate Nick Cosmas recently began his freshman year of college at Southern Connecticut State University, majoring in Business Management and playing Division II football.

Cosmas, who has also been volunteering as an Assistant Coach for the Law football team, his enjoyed time at SCSU so far.

“My favorite part of college is the free time I have to spend working on other things, more time to go out and work, and more time to go see new things and learn new things,” Cosmas said.

Cosmas had an outstanding football and baseball career at Law. He said the transition to college has been relatively smooth.

“It’s been pretty easy actually moving on from high school, just always getting homework done and being on top of school assignments,” Cosmas said. “In the winter I start up playing football and that might make my college life a little tougher, but I’m pretty prepared for it.”

While he has enjoyed his time at SCSU, Cosmas said he still misses some aspects of high school life.

“What I miss most about high school would be my friends and teachers,” Cosmas said. “In high school you are very close with everyone. You see them every day and grew up with all of them. In college, you’re always having to be somewhere – class or some of the academic support rooms to make sure you’re on top of things. There’s not much time to really chill out and go to different classes and see your friends or teachers and talk.”

Cosmas’ former Law teammates said he was a leader on and off the field.

“He was a great leader and knew what he was doing on the field,” senior Eli Fernandez said. “He kept the team on track and kept us together.”
