For most athletes, joining a new team can be a challenge.

For senior goalkeeper Amilio Venditti, his first season playing soccer at Jonathan Law has been an opportunity to make a name for himself.

The Law boys soccer team currently holds a 4-4-5 record, which qualified them for the State Tournament. Venditti has been part of a season filled with competitive games and opportunities for the team to improve.

As a goalkeeper, he plays an important role in keeping Law in games, making saves and organizing the defense in front of him.

“Coming into my first year playing Law soccer, I wanted to prove myself and help the team in any way I could,” Venditti said.

Despite this being his first year playing at Law, Venditti has already received recognition from GameTimeCT as a Mid-Season Player To Watch, bringing attention to his performance between the posts.

For Venditti, adjusting to a new team has been an important part of his senior season. Learning to work with his teammates and building chemistry with the defense have helped him settle into his role as goalkeeper.

“We’ve had some tough games this season, but I think we’ve continued to compete, and I want to finish the year strong with the guys,” Venditti said.

Senior teammate Tyler Stankevich has seen the impact Venditti has made on the team throughout the season. Playing goalkeeper requires confidence and communication, especially when the team faces pressure from opposing offenses.

“Amilio has been a big part of our team this year,” Stankevich said. “He’s someone we can count on in goal, and his effort gives us confidence when we’re out there playing.”

With the postseason approaching, Venditti will look to continue making an impact in goal and help the Lawmen build momentum. His goal is to make the most of his first and only season at Law while helping his teammates compete until the final whistle.
