Jonathan Law’s Multicultural Club is now up and running with bi-weekly meetings Thursdays after school in Room 58.

The Multicultural Club is about welcoming, learning, and accepting different cultures, traditions, countries, and the people that are from there. The goal is to make a safe and comfortable environment in the Jonathan Law community amongst students, so they have more knowledge on the world and people around them.

“I want to ensure that students from all cultural backgrounds are comfortable sharing their heritage while advocating for diversity,” Multicultural Club Advisor Mrs. Anderson said.

The Multicultural Club is always doing events based on culture and diversity, by simply volunteering to make Jonathan Law a more welcoming community. This year, they plan to decorate lockers for cultural expression, give presentations to Elementary students on why diversity is important, and will continue to do their potlucks.

“A lasting impact I hope this club will have as a whole would be to create a safe and accepting environment for students of all different types of cultural backgrounds,” junior Co-President Arisha Ahmed said. 

Members of the club are excited to share their cultural experiences and advocate for community diversity. 

“Our club helps to promote diversity and make everyone feel welcome,” sophomore Secretary Mihika Dabhade said. “While also giving students a chance to share their cultures and perspectives.”

New members of the Multicultural Club are intrigued by the welcoming and accepting attitude of the other members. 

“Initially, I thought it was a great way to get to know your community,” Sophomore Sarah Hammad said. “You get unleashed to a world of diversity, introducing you to different traditions around the world.”

Old members of the club are encouraging other students to join their all inclusive community, and hope to ensure everyone feels welcomed. 

“I believe that students should join because it’s a fun way to meet new people, learn about different cultures, and feel like they’re part of a community,” senior Co-President Wiletny Martinez Rosario said.
