Library Media Specialist Ms. Mundy will be hosting a library card drive on Friday in the TLC. Advocate Social Media Editor Ella Hopkins-Gianotti interviewed Mundy about the drive.

Ella Hopkins-Gianotti: What is the goal of the library card drive?

Ms. Mundy: A library card drive gives an opportunity for anyone in the school to be able to get a library card to the Milford Public Library.

EHG: What details do students need to know about the drive?

MM: This is happening on Friday, September 18, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. There will be a representative here from the public library, and she usually has lollipops, and little giveaways. Last year they did these little mystery animals. She’s done stickers, so she usually has something fun for the students as well.

EHG: How will getting a library card impact our students?

MM: Having access to a library card is not just about books. It’s a lot about the community and the engagement. A lot of people don’t realize that with a library card, you can check out video games. Or you can use this streaming service called Canopy where students get access to research materials, e-books, and audiobooks, as well as the print books. There’s also a lot of, like, library activities.

EHG: Why does Law host this event every year? 


MM: So I think it’s really important for students to be aware of what the library can provide for them. 

EHG: Why should everyone get a library card? 

MM: Libraries are the best, not only do you have access to books, but information and programs.
And some of them will lend out seeds, and power tools, and all sorts of things, so libraries are great for the community.
