Mr. Carley is the newest English teacher at Jonathan Law for the 2026-2027 school year.

This year, Carley will be teaching English 1 along with Broadcast Journalism. Carley said he looking forward to building relationships with his students and colleagues and being an active member of the community. 

“I want to make an impact beyond my own classroom by building meaningful relationships with students and faculty, supporting literacy and writing initiatives,” Carley said. “Through my role in Broadcasting Journalism, I hope to become more connected to the events, people and stories that make up the Law community.”

He graduated from Gettysburg College, Pennsylvania, in 2022, with a double major in English and Political Science. He also graduated with a minor in Cinema and Movie Studies. In 2024, Carley received a Masters in Secondary English Education from Fairfield University.

After graduating college, Carley worked as a Research Assistant for a Pulitzer prize-winning columnist at the Washington Post in Washington, D.C. After moving back to Connecticut, he worked on the writing staff of WWE’s Friday Night SmackDown.

Before joining Law, Carley worked at Trumbull High School, the school we had attended as a teenager. In his free time, he works as a gymnastics coach at Next Dimension, and would love to become involved in Law’s gymnastics team. 

Senior Joeliz Gonzalez is excited to be in Carley’s Broadcast Journalism class.

“Mr. Carley brings the energy we need to class everyday,” Gonzalez said. “What has stood out to me most is his enthusiasm.”

Carley is hopeful to quickly get involved and make an impact on the Law community.

“I genuinely love stories, creativity, and learning new things,” Carley said. “Outside of teaching, I’m a writer and independent film maker, and I’ve been involved in gymnastics for most of my life as both an athlete and coach. I’m a big believer that the things we do outside of school have a place in the classroom and I’m excited to get to know the people of Law and share some of my own interests with them and learn about theirs in return.”
