The Law Band and Orchestra recently combined for a joint Spring Concert that showed the best from the ensemble.
The Orchestra and Band played a variety of songs – some separate and some together. Music teacher Mr. Pelaggi has been working with his students for the past few months to master their proficiency in music.
Before the concert had started, Pelaggi would set a rehearsal to practice the music in a concert setting. Pelaggi believed that his students were very prepared and that one his favorite parts of the concert was in the combined pieces.
“I think the Orchestra and Band kids were super prepared,” Pelaggi said. “Crunched down. Bit of a shorter program this year due to most seniors leaving for their internships. It’s really been a challenge for us to get the amount of music we have done in time. But the kids really stepped up. The combined pieces were really special, nice to see everyone perform together. Both groups were able to lift up each other. We only got one rehearsal in, but they were still excellent in putting together the pieces.”
Junior drummer Ethan Pannella thought that the combined concert was very well done.
“The combined concert was amazing,” Pannella said. “You could really see the effort both groups put in, and they worked together extremely well to execute the performance successfully.”
Sophomore baritone saxophone player Joshua Flores enjoyed played with the strings.
“My favorite song was ‘Warrior Legacy,’” Flores said. “I really thought it went well during the concert and through our practices. The lines for the lows were powerful and important. I enjoyed playing with the strings as they created a better musical atmosphere and brought energy to the song in general. If I could play any other song again next year, it would be ‘Warrior Legacy.’”
Sophomore violin player Erik Borowski said that Pelaggi was crucial in helping him and his classmates learn the pieces as quickly as possible.
“We didn’t have a lot of time to crunch down on all the music,” Borowski said. “But Mr. Pelaggi did a great job preparing us with rehearsals and working on specific measures during classes. It’s amazing how much music we were able to get done and play well during the concert.”
