Mrs. Bouchard is retiring this year after working at Jonathan Law for 32 years.
Bouchard has taught AP/UCONN ECE Environmental Science, Physics, Astronomy, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Meteorology, Medical Mysteries and Pharmaceutical Chemistry during her time at Law.
Before working at Law, Bouchard worked at Kolbe Cathedral High School in Bridgeport for three and a half years. While there, she taught Chemistry, Physics and Earth Science as one of two of the science teachers there. While working there, she was missing the opportunity to collaborate with other science teachers, which makes her time as Law favorable.
“I love the sense of family that we have at Law,” Bouchard said. “For as long as I’ve been here, the faculty and staff have been collegial, but more importantly, they have been my second family. We all work hard to do our best for our students, and everyone is supportive including the administrators.”
Jonathan Law Principal Mr. Darcy said he will miss Bouchard and her contributions to Law.
“Mrs. Bouchard has worked very hard behind the scenes to update curriculums that have enhanced student learning in the classroom,” Darcy said. “I will miss seeing her in meetings. She is so passionate about doing everything in their power to ensure a student has success inside and outside the classroom.”
Bouchard shared her favorite memories of working at Law.
“My favorite memories are those that happen in the classroom, especially when my students exhibit curiosity, have ‘aha!’ moments, and realize that they are capable of learning challenging science concepts and skills,” Bouchard said.
Junior Carter Rosiak, who took AP Environmental Science with Bouchard, shared how Bouchard was a helpful, caring teacher.
“Mrs. Bouchard always offers help,” Rosiak said. “She was always happy to answer all our questions. She was one of the most caring teachers I’ve met during my time at Law. It was obvious from how she worked for us to understand the material that she genuinely wanted us to ace the class. There aren’t many teachers out there that can put as much passion into the subject quite like her.”
Bouchard has loved to have the chance to connect with her students and the science department.
“I will miss walking into a place and knowing my purpose, and looking forward to interacting with my students in a way that connects us, but also results in their learning,” Bouchard said. “I will greatly miss all the teachers in the science department, who are ‘my people.’ I know many educators that work in different towns and states, and there is truly no place like Law.”
