The new face of west coast hip hop is on the horizon, and his name is Kendrick Lamar.
California rapper Lamar has slowly made his name huge since putting out his first mixtape at 16, and now nine years later his major label debut “Good Kid, m.a.a.d. City” was released on October 22. Read more

“Bioshock” first hit consoles on August 21, 2007, and has been deemed the third best game of all time.
“Bioshock 2” followed as a sequel to the underwater city Rapture’s story and was released on February 9, 2010. Finally, after three long years, “Bioshock Infinite,” the third installment in this first-person shooter, is ready to swoop in and steal gamers away.

Over 200 students, including a group from Jonathan Law High School, gathered at Yale University on October 15 for the 14th annual Physics Olympics.
Yale University hopes that participants can enjoy themselves while applying basic physics in a practical manner.

Advanced Placement Studio Art is off to a great start at Law.
This is the first year Law has offered an AP Art class and art students are really excited about it.

Jonathan Law’s band always had a strong reputation as one of the best bands in the state, and it continues to do so.
All of Law’s band members are working extra hard this week while they prepare for their first home show on Saturday, October 27.

The Jonathan Law girls soccer team played a fierce game against Foran on their Senior Night.
Down 2-1 with only two minutes left, senior Janessa Soucy tied the game, and in the process, took away Foran’s hope for the state tournament.
Foran scored the first goal of the game just before halftime, but Law battled back soon after.

The athletes from the Jonathan Law boys and girls track team made their mark at the Southern Connecticut Conference meet (SCCs) on May 14.
Despite not coming in first place for the meet, over twenty Law athletes did well enough to qualify for the state meet, which will be taking place at the end of May.

Sherrilyn Kenyon is a #1 New York Times Bestselling Author who is most famous for her “Dark Hunters” series with four different volumes. They were about immortal vampire slayers and their dramatic stories.
The series ended and in its wake “The Chronicles of Nick” was born.
“Infinity,” the first book in this follow up series, is about young 14 year old Nick Gautier (Go-shay). Being the child of a teenage mom who was abandoned by her parents upon the pregnancy, Nick hasn’t had the best life. He survives off of his mom being a stripper at night, and their house is pretty much a shack.

The opening round of the state playoffs posed a serious challenge for the Milford Indians.
The team, made up of students from Law, Foran, and Platt Tech, took on the Newtown Nighthawks on Tuesday, March 6, at the Milford Ice Pavilion.
The Indians jumped out to a quick two-goal lead as Milford goalie Matt White was stopping every puck that came his way.

“21 Jump Street,” which is set to open in theaters March 16, looks like a sure-fire hit that will have moviegoers dropping to the ground laughing.
Two very funny actors, Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum, star in the movie, which is based off the last ’80s TV show. They play two undercover agents disguised as two regular high school students.

“Safe House” has proven to be an entertaining hideout for many moviegoers.
Starring two very well-known actors, Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds, “Safe House” continues to build suspense throughout the whole movie.

Is Siliconera telling the truth about the “Dead Space 3” leaked information? Is Visceral Games constructing the game right now?
Recently, a source on Siliconera, a gaming website, has claimed to have obtained leaked information from Visceral Games where the source claims they are working on the production of the third Dead Space.

Philadelphia rap duo Chiddy Bang first took shape in late 2008, and just three years and three mixtapes later, the two will make their fourth full-length release, their first album.
The duet of Chidera Anamege or “Chiddy” and Noah Beresin or “Xapoon Jones” released “Breakfast” on February 21st. A week later they debuted 8th on the Billboard Top 100 albums.

The producers at Electronics Arts are releasing the latest expansion pack in the Sims 3 franchise: “The Sims 3: Showtime.”
This new expansion pack, released in March, brings all new excitement in the lives of the player’s Sims. Showtime features an entertainment and rise to fame theme that opens up several new performer careers for your Sims such as Singer, Magician, and Acrobat, as well as the opportunity to moonlight as a DJ. They come along with related venues, objects, and interactions.

Softball season is right around the corner, and no one is more excited to start than senior captain Melissa Nelson.
Last year, the Law softball team ended the season with a record of 5-15. The Lady Lawmen hope to improve on that record with the help of Nelson this year.

The Jonathan Law girls basketball team ended their season last week, however it did not end the way they had hoped.
Their regular season resulted in 10 wins and 10 losses. They then went 1-2 in the SCC and state playoffs.

It looks like winter missed the memo.
As all students in the Milford Public School district are well aware, there has been a grand total of zero snow days or shortened schedules this year – a first for possibly all current Jonathan Law students.
Every word Tatiana De Rosnay writes is a stroke of art with her novel, “Sarah’s Key.”
Rosney connects the past with the present throughout the novel, showing that we cannot forget our past, good or bad.

It’s fair to say the weather this winter has been milder than expected, but who can complain about an early spring? That is, especially with the promise of so many band tours to look forward to.
One of the biggest by far, will be Blink-182. After almost a four year hiatus, the band is now back in their third year of release and reformation. Their sixth and most recent album, released last September, is titled “Neighborhoods” and features 10 tracks.
To a veteran gamer, games could get a bit repetitive. Saving the princess takes less effort than tying their shoes, and the so called “dark lord” of the realm may as well be one of his many lackeys. Namco-Bandai Games seeks to change this with its newest sequel, “Dark Souls.”
“Dark Souls,” developed by From Software and Namco-Bandai Games and released in October of 2011, is a sequel to the critically acclaimed “Demon’s Souls,” which was released in October of 2009.

The Jonathan Law boys basketball team recently participated in a basketball clinic to help Law’s Unified Sports athletes.
The basketball team set up different stations around the gym and helped all the Unified Sports kids to improve and learn different basketball skills.

The new movie “Chronicle,” directed by Josh Tank, is coming out in theaters February 3.
This movie is centered around three teenage kids – Andrew Detmer (Dane Heenan), Micheal Ernesto (Joe Vaz) and Sean (Luke Tyler) – who discover that they have unrealistic powers where they can almost use the force as if it was “Star Wars.”

“The Devil Inside,” which was released ealier this month, is a frightening, entertaining, and must-see horror movie.
The movie is set to take place in Italy where a woman by the name of Isabella Rossi (Fernanda Andrade) is reunited with her mother Maria Rossi (Suzan Crowley). Together they are in search of an exorcist who can free Maria from a demon that she believes possesses her.

After the success of it predecessor, did “Sherlock Holmes 2: A Game of Shadows” live up to its hype?
In this sequel, Robert Downey Jr. once again takes on the lead role of Sherlock Holmes, with his assistant Dr. John Watson, played by Jude Law.

Since its start in 2007, Bloons Tower Defense (BTD) has definitely been the fan favorite game created by Ninja Kiwi. Fans have been craving the fifth installment to be released.
The original’s popularity brought BTD2 at the end of 2007, and that game’s success brought the third in 2008.
John Green released his newest novel, “The Fault in Our Stars,” on January 10.
The story begins with 16-year-old Hazel Lancaster. Immediately Green reveals that his heroine is a terminal cancer patient.

Gary Marshall’s latest film “New Year’s Eve” came out just last month.
Marshall also directed “Valentine’s Day.” “New Year’s Eve” was very similar to “Valentine’s Day” in a way that there are several different scenarios going on all at once in the same city.

In a week with back-to-back Foran matchups, the girls basketball team captured Round 1.
The Lady Lawmen went down to the final seconds, but were able to beat the visiting Lions 55-54 in a thrilling finish Thursday night in the New Gym.

Anyone interested in crafting their own personal hats, scarves, socks, and more can learn to do so in this new group.

From book bag to book shelf, Milford resident and Jonathan Law graduate Emily Bump has done it.
It’s not often an eighteen year old girl gets to publish a book of her own, but after three years of hard work, Bump has proved it possible.
After spending four years at Jonathan Law, it’s no surprise that some newly admitted college students could begin to miss their high school days.
The annual “Welcome Back Graduates” Day, organized by the National Honor Society, provides these nostalgic students the opportunity to return to Law and discuss their college lives.

The movie, “A Very Harold and Kumar 3D Christmas” came out in theatres on November 4.
The new movie is ridiculously funny with Harold and Kumar going through another crazy adventure. It’s also in 3D, making the movie even better.

Jonathan Law High School will be having a joint Holiday Book Fair with Foran High School at the Barnes and Noble in Milford.
This event will take place on Monday, December 5, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Barnes and Noble is located on the Boston Post Road, just past the mall.

It’s just another day for the Jonathan Law Sign Language Club.
The club offers American Sign Language (ASL) lessons and practices, and is open to all students.

The end is finally near for the “Twilight” franchise, but is it going out with a bang?
“Twilight” films are not known for stellar acting performances that deserve an Oscar, or amazing special effects. Yet, the “Twilight” franchise has a strong fan base that continues to go to the movies, making it so successful.

Being a gymnast for 10 years has really paid off for senior Abby Shackett.
Shackett has been doing gymnastics for 10 years and more to come. She started at Polly’s Gymnastics and has continued to take her talents to the Jonathan Law Gymnastics team.

In November of 2006, Elijah Wood rocked theaters everywhere with his animated movie Happy Feet. It was touching, had adventure, and even dancing and singing penguins that made this movie an instant favorite.
Happy Feet Two came out this November and has a lot of controversy. Critics are rating it 5 out of 10 stars while fans of Happy Feet are posting positive reviews all over the web.
Bright lawn ornaments, a holiday cheer, and knitted hats can only mean one thing: the holiday season is here, and what holiday is complete without presents?
Collaborating with the social workers at Bridges, a community support organization known for their work with the needy, the National Honor Society is giving underprivileged children the opportunity to get just what they want for the holidays through the annual Giving Tree toy drive.
With the weather getting colder and many families being left to fend for themselves, Jonathan Law English teacher Mrs. Goldbeck wanted to help by starting a coat drive.
Goldbeck held the coat drive for the past two weeks with Tuesday, November 29, being the last day.
