COLUMN: What’s Your Quarantine Hobby? Knitting!

By Morgan Taylor – Editor-In-Chief

During our time in quarantine, many people have had more time to discover new interests or try a new hobby. Personally, I decided to start back up a new hobby! Knitting! Knitting is extremely relaxing and a great thing to do when watching TV or listening to music. Here are some tips for anyone to try. All you need is yarn and some knitting needles!

Your first step is to take your empty needle and put it through the top loop on your full needle. Make sure you aren’t missing any parts of the string.

Make sure the empty needle is placed behind the full needle in a small “x” shape.

Take your string and wrap it behind the empty needle and in between the two needles. You can drop it at this point.

This is what it should like mid-stitch.

Take out your empty needle so that you bring it in front of the full needle but without losing the stitch you just made.

Now take off the top stitch from the full needle so that your new row starts looking like this! Repeat these steps for every stitch on the full needle and start over again with the other needle being your empty one!
