The film is based on a true story that took place in 2005. Prior to the movie, a book was written by Marcus Lutrell called “Lone Survivor: The Eyewitness Account of Operation Redwing and the Lost Heroes of Seal Team 10.”
The whole movie takes place in Afghanistan. The soldiers are planted high in the heavily forested Afghan mountains. The Seals’ mission is to assassinate a high ranking Al-Qaeda official, who in real life is Osama Bin Laden. The soldiers encounter many problems when they lose communication with their commanders. They soon face tough decisions that can’t be helped due to this technological disadvantage.
Wandering villagers soon encounter the soldiers when hiking up the mountains. With no communication to base, they have no guidance as to what to do with the villagers. They decide to let them go, they erupt in a sprint to tell the terrorists below. Soon enough, Al-Qaeda sends hundreds of armed militants ready to slaughter the troops. A war emerges and it’s a fierce battle for the Seals to survive.
The action-packed film kept the viewers on the edge of their seat. All will be left wondering: what will the fate of the soldiers be?
