The annual “Pretty Little Liars” Halloween special was not so special this year.

The episode decided to set aside spilling all the secrets they could fit into a single episode. Instead it was introducing the new series “Ravenswood”.

PLL is expected to be drama filled and suspenseful. Well we did not get this from the Halloween special considering they spent half of the show on a bus with Caleb and new character Miranda. This had to relevance to what the girls, Aria, Hannah, Spencer, and Emily, were doing.

The lairs accomplished nothing either. While running around the underneath streets of Ravenswood, their biggest accomplishment was finding a haunted mansion.

Spencer did get close to finding out who the person in the gas mask was, but, as expected, she tragically got knocked out and missed her opportunity. It’s a good guess saying that Gas Mask was Ezra considering Spencer cut their hand and he suspiciously kept that hand in his pocket the whole time. Then again, maybe he thought keeping his hand in his pocket was making him a cool dude.

Ezra was meant to look like “A” in the season finally but the most we got from him in the Halloween episode was him in a gas mask costume (as well as plenty of other party guests) and being the liars chauffeur.

Ezra being a creeper is nothing new to the show, so the big reveal was Alison confirming the thing that we all already knew: the absence of a body means “alive until proven otherwise.” The elaborate fake death of Ali’s, if we can believe everything as we saw it, is basically confirmed as a way to fool Ezra into believing she’s gone.

The girls know Allison is alive. No more fever dreams or smoke inhalation to blame it on. The secret is out that Ali is really truly alive.

The search for Alison’s killer is over if there’s no actual killer. Now we can focus on how she pulled the whole thing off. That being said, PLL did all that in ten minutes. The rest of the episode was drilling into our heads that we should stick around for Ravenswood.

Next season should be interesting now that there is a whole new agenda on everyone’s mind: will Ali go back to Rosewood and who is she hiding from?
