Senior Tarah Kelly was recently honored with this year’s Superintendents Award.
Kelly was honored for her community service, academic prowess and leadership in the school community. She attended the annual Superintendent Students Award Luncheon on March 15 at the Laurel View Country Club in Hamden.
“I was honored to receive the Superintendent’s Award,” Kelly said. “It made me feel great that the administrators chose me and people recognize what I do.”
In the classroom, Kelly is a hardworking student and maintains a strong GPA. Outside of the classroom, Kelly is a four-year member of the Jonathan Law volleyball team, a two-year member of the hockey team and a member of Law’s Interact Club.
Kelly has earned many hours of community service through the Interact Club and by volunteering at a local hockey rink.
“She is a great person to follow in the footsteps of former Superintendent’s Award winner (and current Jonathan Law math teacher) Mr. Ruzbarsky,” said Mr. Beler.
Kelly is the lead anchor on Law’s morning news show, Eagle Eye News, and the columns editor for The Advocate, Law’s school newspaper.
“Tarah is everything you could ask for in a student,” said Mr. Kulenych. “She is dedicated, outgoing, a strong leader, and always full of school spirit. She’s very deserving of the Superintendent’s Award.”
Kelly is also the manager of Law’s girls tennis team.
She plans to attend Western New England University, Pace University or the University of Rhode Island in the fall. She plans on majoring in communications.
