With three months left until graduation, the Class of 2013 has already begun its end-of-the-year festivities.

This year’s Senior Cotillion took place at Cascade on March 15.

While the event ran smoothly, the path to planning it was a bit rocky.

“This Cotillion is set to have the lowest attendance in history,” said senior class president John Bonetti, regarding the 96 tickets which were sold.

Students participated in a Facebook poll to decide whether to keep the dance. On a vote of 31 to 13, the dance was scheduled.

“Graduation costs $30,000,” said Bonetti. “There is no room for taking a loss.”

This year, because of practical financial reasons, the senior officers decided to limit the availability of tickets based on low attendance records of previous years.

“A smaller room was booked assuming there weren’t a lot of people going,” said senior Olivia Rivera.

Despite the small crowd, the senior class enjoyed the night of dancing and food – and enjoyed each other’s company.

“I think it was nice that the seniors could get together, but I wish more people would have come to make the experience better,” said senior class treasurer Bhavani Jaladanki.

If any senior wishes to get involved in the process of planning the last few events of the year, there are ways to get involved.

“I strongly recommend [all seniors] go to Mrs. Kovacs or write a suggestion and put it in the box [by her office],” said senior class vice president Sean Davis. “[You can] also attend the senior representative meetings on B days.”
