ENTERTAINMENT: ‘New Year’s Eve’ Drops The Ball

By Melissa Nelson Entertainment Editor

Gary Marshall’s latest film “New Year’s Eve” came out just last month.

Marshall also directed “Valentine’s Day.” “New Year’s Eve” was very similar to “Valentine’s Day” in a way that there are several different scenarios going on all at once in the same city.

As with “Valentine’s Day” there is a huge cast of well known actors and actresses. These include: Michelle Pfeiffer, Zac Efron, Robert De Niro, Halle Berry, Alyssa Milano, Jessica Biel, Seth Meyers, Katherine Heigl, Jon Bon Jovi, Lea Michele, Jake T. Austin, Sarah Jessica Parker, Ashton Kutcher, Ludacris, Hilary Swank, Abagail Breslin, Josh Duhamel, and many more.

The movie opens with many scenic shots of New York City during the holidays, displaying the beauty of the city. Then it cuts to Ryan Seacrest, who begins the New Year’s ceremony.

The cast is introduced in their own situations: Kutcher in his apartment, Pfeiffer in her office, Efron on his scooter, Biel and Meyers in the maternity ward, Duhammel in a wedding, Heigel cooking in the kitchen for a catering event, Parker with her daughter: Breslin, etc; It would take the whole page to describe all of the different situations going on in this movie.

The movie is filled with romance and activity all relating to the first and last holiday of the year, New Year’s Eve/New Year’s Day.

“New Year’s Eve” is a typical chick flick. The only reason men would go to watchi this movie was if they were dragged by their girlfriend or wife. As a girl, this movie was very entertaining to watch. Those who liked “Valentine’s Day” are sure to enjoy this movie as well.
