In November of 2006, Elijah Wood rocked theaters everywhere with his animated movie Happy Feet. It was touching, had adventure, and even dancing and singing penguins that made this movie an instant favorite.
Happy Feet Two came out this November and has a lot of controversy. Critics are rating it 5 out of 10 stars while fans of Happy Feet are posting positive reviews all over the web.
Fans are saying, “I will be…buying this one on DVD when it comes out ,” while critics are quoting, “The first film was definitely better,” and “Without the music, I could’ve gone without seeing this one in a movie theater.”
However, the movie was overall entertaining. Some new characters that weren’t in the first are the son of Mumble, Erik; the flying penguin, Sven; and Bill and Will the Krills.
The main conflict of the story starts when Erik doesn’t feel like he’s fit for dancing and runs away with his friends Atticus and Boadicia. Mumble follows him and runs back into Adelie-Land where Sven, a flying penguin, seems to have taken over as a God like figure. He tells of his ability saving him from a disaster that made his race extinct. Sven soon meets Erik and takes a liking to him and encourages him to believe in himself and he can do whatever he wants, maybe even fly himself one day.
When Mumble and the young penguin return to Emperor-Land, they find out that it has been completely cut off at all angles by an iceberg, trapping all of the remaining Emperor Penguins inside. It’s up to Mumble and the children to find a way to save their race from extinction.
It was just as entertaining as the first one with more dancing and more singing to keep viewers’ happy feet tapping against the floor.
Rating: 3.75 out of 5 stars.
