NEWS: Law Holds Coat Drive For Underprivileged Families
With the weather getting colder and many families being left to fend for themselves, Jonathan Law English teacher Mrs. Goldbeck wanted to help by starting a coat drive.
Goldbeck held the coat drive for the past two weeks with Tuesday, November 29, being the last day.
She is working with Carter Mario Injury Lawyers and the Milford Commission Service project.
This project was helpful for all who participated, from giving coats to putting up posters.
Those who assisted in making posters to promote the event were able to get an internship with Carter in his Milford office.
“It’s great because students are able to donate and give back to the community while also getting an internship,” said Goldbeck.
Goldbeck has collected many coats over the past two weeks. She has received so many that she does not have enough boxes and bags to store them.
“I’m excited to see if my partners collected a lot of coats as well,” Goldbeck said.
Carter Mario has five other offices over the state collecting coats, as does the Milford Commission Service.
Last year, Carter worked with REACH-OUT food, and collected 127 coats in his firm.
Once the group gets together, the coats will be divided up and given to families in Milford and Waterbury.
“Many of the staff members at Law and downtown at Parsons donated,” said Goldbeck.
Two other students who made major donations were sophomore Ryan Siddall and freshman Nicole Collins.
Goldbeck accepted all types of coats as long as they were new or lightly used.
