SPORTS: Law Falls To Lyman Hall 34-21
By Kyle Kandetzki – Sports Editor
On Friday night, Jonathan Law was hungry to break a streak of seven losses in a row in a matchup against Lyman Hall.
The effort, led by the full-time return of QB Timmy Maher and a strong running game, came up short, though, with the Lawmen falling to the Trojans 34-21.
Though Maher was featured on the scoring end, running in two of the team’s three scores, Law utilized their deep rushing attack to bring them down the field. Law rushed 22 times for a total of 220 yards as opposed to 107 passing yards.
Maher, Daron Britt, Brody Deell, and Matt Schlenk all received seven or more carries each to make up most of the offense Friday night. Schlenk also had one of the more impressive offensive plays of the night, taking a rush 56 yards down field.
On the receiving end, captain Connor Falaguerra was the prime target once again, making six receptions for 106 yards.
Law’s defense held one of their more consistent performances thus far, holding the Trojans within six until the final minutes of the game. Featured plays came from an interception at the end of the first half by Kenny Borque and a blocked PAT from Lyman Hall by the special teams squad.
Though the defensive performance was improved, Law was no match for Trojan RB Joe DeSandre. DeSandre put up all five touchdowns, including one big 61 yard run just under two minutes into the game.
Lyman Hall advanced to 3-3 with the win, while the Lawmen slipped to 0-6. Law faces off against Branford (2-4), who they defeated 48-35 in 2010, in their next game.
The game is this Friday, October 28, at Lawmen Field.
